2018 - Steamroller Printmaking!
2018 Steamroller Printmaking!

My print: 1. Drawing on the Baltic Birch, 2. Detail of carving, 3. Carving touch-up on site, 4. Inked carving, 5. The crew laying down fabric for the print to be transferred via steamroller, and 6. The final print drying on the rooftop at Chicago Printmakers Collaborative.
The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative once again held a steamroller printmaking event (they are now saying biennial).
This time I used Baltic Birch, which was much better than MDF. I wanted some texture to the background, and when I decided on dots, the only reasonable way to accomplish this was to use stickers as a guide. Still, it was overwhelming to carve, and there was definitely "chatter" in the print. It came out great, though! I learn something useful at each event, so I finally feel prepared for the next event. ☺︎
