2026 Open Print Exchange

2026 Open Print Exchange
"Wilma" — drypoint etching printed on Japanese paper (7cm x 7cm actual size)

The Open Print Exchange this year has been collected and posted online, the exchanged prints are supposed to be in the mail, and the catalogue should be finished in October.

“Wilma” by Cara Dailey is part of the Open Print Exchange, a worldwide art swap of tiny prints printed with a 3D printed printing press.

I don't really have any process photos this time, as I was focused on meeting the deadline. There were issues receiving my press (the shipping company didn't notify me and the tariff was much higher than I expected). I had planned to do a relief carving but it was proving too difficult on my new press (postcard size). I decided to do an etching instead, as I suspected it would print easier for me. I hadn't done etching in several years, so it took a few tries to remember everything I needed to do (ie. using damp paper). I also switched to a thinner paper. It was much easier than I expected! I will definitely need to do more.

I am really looking forward to receiving my prints from the exchange, as well as the catalog from the event.
